When did you check on the stock from PML? Is the 3-4 months wait for the 2015 model? I am hoping that I am still in time to order the olive GSA.

Yes PML deal is actually quite good. I think that is because they have some COE rebate promotion. Worth considering if one can afford the long wait.

Hope to help with some comments -
Its not your height but your inseam that matters.
FYG, I have seen many riders on GSAs that have the same issues but do not lack the riding ability.

Feeling uneasy only arises at low speeds, parking or after filling up at a petrol kiosk. Imagine filling a GSA tank and managing the extra weight once you come off the side or center stand.

    So all is not lost.

    1) OEM and After market options for a low seat (usually less foam and a narrower profile).
    2) Lowered Shocks (After market can make to suit ).
    3) Carry with all Panniers and Top Boxes loaded with Bricks. Can reduce height by 1 to 2 inches. Or always carry pillion. Preload to soft.
    4) Don't buy GSA, buy GS and try for a year or two.
    5) High heel boots (Don't laugh, I have seen a guy use this).
    6) Modify the side stand kill switch so you can ride with side stand down permanently.

Of course 3,5 and 6 should not be taken seriously. 4 can be considered.

I know you go to bed with an image of yourself touring with a GSA.............its a common affliction.

Thanks for the advise. What made me lose confidence is that the seller today actually drop the bike so I was also quite shocked.

And trust me....I dream of riding a gas for as long as I first seen one.

Its something liked buying a sport bike and not going into track. Hahaaaa. The GS can tahan drops lah. I dropped mine on the 10th of owning it. My other GS friend had both side dropped and now he said balanced Liao. Hehehehe. Enjoy the GS.

Anyone seen this slim pannier lid replacement for K1600 / 2014- R1200RT Panniers?
For local can use this to slim down the panniers for easy manoeuvre in city traffic.
Found this in Japan website, blady ex. Wonder if can find locally.

Just to share. Got an oil cooled GSA with stock seats a month ago. Really a giant compared to my previous super 4. I'm 1.82m but with relatively short legs. I cannot flat foot with both legs on the ground. Once on the move no problem. The only problem I face is reversing into parking lots, especially with a slight incline or when the ground is slippery. Once, I parked head in down a minor slope and needed another biker's help to push out the bike. So now i always reverse in. Lesson learnt!

The problem with riding huge bikes is that we always need to be careful where we park and how we park

hello all.....sort of a newbie here....

just put down a booking fee for the new 2015 R1200R from PML.....

fingers crossed for tomorrow's COE not to jump too much. Hope against hope....it'll drop a bit.....lol. That would be a miraculous event tomorrow, seeing how next quarter's quota has been cut.

Machine price was 33k + 1.6k Options (non-optional). PML sells the bike only with the 1.6k Options. Can't buy the base model.
Then depending on the colour of your choice, you might need to add on another $800 Options package.
There was a COE subsidy promo of between 3.5k to 4.5k, again depending on your choice of colour.

Good choice!! The new R12R looks awesome. I didn't get to ride it but only sat on one. The posture is nice and the bike already felt nimble and ready to go!

    Hi,
Anyone know how much and where to purchase spoke-rims for R1200GS 2012?

    Cheers.

Thanks. It really wasn't my 1st choice actually. I thought it was expensive, too big and heavy for me, and probably too much bike than I needed. Was initially looking at the C600 Sport. Then no stock. And quite heavy. And I didn't really take to its looks but was willing to compromise. Then was told no more next shipment cos next year, the scooters are gonna get a facelift and slight upgrade, so PML can't confirm ETA. Moved onto my next logical choice, F800R.

But I really really wasn't too keen on the riding position. A bit too much of a forward lean. Didn't appreciate the weight on my wrists. Then I read about the vibrations on the handle grips. I once had a rather un-refined V-twin street bike and the vibrations made my right hand go numb half the time. So I got a little paranoid. My sales guy suggested taking the F800GS for a test-ride(they didn't have one for the R), but I settled for just revving the bike up to about 4k rpm. I know with gears engaged, the vibrations would be a little less, but personally for me, I didn't like what I felt just revving at standstill.

So onto the R1200R. And boy oh boy....I have to say.....once i started the bike....my heart and mind just said, "This is it. This is the one". All the electronic driver aids that comes with it just makes it one heck of a bike.

Now on the hunt for accessories. 3 specifically. Crash bar, cover, and top box. Wanna get the Hepco bars, but dunno where. Anyone got any lobang?

I like the Shad V50, but seems SG don't have it. Chong Aik don't bring it in. Largest they have is the V48, but it's less-regular shape doesn't make efficient use of its full volume. Any suggestions?

Hepco & Becker stuff can get from Mtechnik. I think the biggest topbox is the 55L Journey. But seriously.... The R12R looks too cool for a (big) topbox. Hahaha!!

As for crashbars, u can opt for the side engine case crash plates instead. PML stuff should be able to guide u. There's the Touratech office at the same building and I'm sure there'll be some for the R12R.

i know.....and i agree. the 2015 r12 indeed looks really good naked, but i need the practicality here. a full-face, jacket, rain gear, laptop bag......been debating whether to use a single large topbox, or split my stuff into 2 medium-sized panniers. the panniers definitely look better than a topbox, but then i also means i'll most likely do less lane-splitting. not an issue when moving at speed, but in a jam.....defeats thet purpose of getting a bike instead of a four-wheeler

Mine is no where near the sexiness of your R12R so I have a topbox. Lanesplitting is easier but honestly I reckon it's psychological. I had panniers on my Super Tenere previously and no issues during peak hours expressway splitting. You have to first check if there are any side racks for your bike first. Size of the panniers matters too.

I don't put my helmet in the box so my options are more. In fact now I'm on a mini 30L Hepco Becker Exclusive. Just nice for rain gear, small laptop bag and squeeze in my mesh jacket at times although nowadays I don't even bother to put my jacket inside. Let the helmet and jacket breathe while I'm in office.

Of course u can find those soft saddlesbags or even soft tail/tail bags. Not as 'secure' but gets the job done.

This is an awesome bike for touring. For daily commuting the GT would be more ideal

I guess it really depends on the indidvual. I use it daily for work. Mostly is highway commute. Got used to it already.
