Cool need advice: any 2b bike that helps with 2a test later?

just obtained my 2b license today. wondering if getting one of those 200cc street bike will gain me more experience for 2a test 1 year later. or maybe I shall take something more difficult to handle like a sportsbike so I can feel easy when later riding those 400cc honda in driving centre. I think riding a scooter probably won't be the best choice to prepare for 2a, right?

another question: what kind/age of 2nd hand bike can I get nowadays with ~$3000 budget.

    thanks a lot.

Hi noodle, I suggest you go with any 2B bike you can find for your budget. The CB400 is very heavy and different from a normal 2B, so you're not gonna get used to it unless you ride one yourself. Don't worry though, you can get lots of practice during your 2A lessons.

For 2B bikes under 3k, what kind do you like? Sportbike, cruiser, kup?
Do you know that riding at 90km/h+ without earplugs is dangerous?

thanks for the advice. So I guess no matter what 2b bike I ride now, it'll be too different from the CB400 used in 2a lessons and tests to gain much practical experience.

I'm not too sure about the type of bikes actually, thinking about reliable and easy to handle and also comfortable to ride on, probably a street bike? Can you suggest some beginner bike that's reliable and popular, so the price and resell effort will not be too demanding?

Another question is, I saw from forum that seems bikes need more frequent service than cars? like 3-6months for bike vs 1 year for a car. what's the recommended time/mileage in between each service?

A scooter cruise rpm is around 7-8k. Idle above 1,000 rpm.

A car idles around 600-650 rpm. Auto transmissions cruise at below 2000rpm.

A 4 cylinder engine's moving parts are better balanced vs 1 cylinder.

Bike oils pretty much work much much harder.

i recommend CDC if u are concerned about weight of super4, the 250cc they using there for 2A is SO TINY, and it's single cylinder, get any naked bike, it should be almost same as the 250cc, on the other hand, i rmb learning on super4 for 2A, freaking heavy sia.... although now it looks tiny to me too

But then at the same you would worry about taking your class 2. Last I heard. CDC is using XJ6 already.

Bro, go manual. I did scooter for 1 year then went 2A, really struggled with the clutch. But weight was ok since my scooter weighed a ton. But cost me more practice sessions usually to get use to manual
